Services offered
Positive Parenting From Two Homes “For Kids!” is an educational children’s program that was developed in May 2002 because of requests from parents who had participated in the Positive Parenting From Two Homes program. The program aims to:

  • help children learn about separation and divorce;
  • provide a safe and neutral place for them to discuss their thoughts and feelings;
  • help children learn they are not alone; and
  • teach coping skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Since 2009, the Positive Parenting from Two Homes “For Kids!” program has been run exclusively in the school system in conjunction with the school guidance counsellor.

Each program is presented in five one hour sessions. The program is divided into three age groups: grades 1-3; 4-6 and 7-9. There is a maximum of ten participants per group. The program coordinator and school guidance counsellor attend each session, providing age appropriate information through group discussion, activities, stories, art, videos, play, and role playing. At the end of the program, participants receive a workbook to take home as well as a certificate indicating their completion of the program.

This method of program delivery insures greater access to the program for children dealing with family separation and divorce as well as leaves the children with a connection to the school guidance counsellor.
