This is a stacked vertical bar chart that illustrates the number of legal aid applications denied by the reasons for denial from 1999 to April 2002.

The Y axis represents the number of applications denied. It is measured in numbers and in increments of 10 starting from 0 to 70.

The X axis represents the years and the reasons for denial. The following years are listed from left to right: 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. The denial reasons are categorized as follows: Other, Type of Case and Financial.

  • In 1999, less than 10 applications were denied for financial reasons. Ten applications were denied because of the type of case and about 40 applications were denied for other reasons. 
  • In 2000, more than 10 applications were denied for financial reasons. About 5 applications were denied because of the type of case and approximately 30 applications were denied for other reasons. 
  • In 2001, in total of less than 10 applications were denied due to financial, case type or other reasons.
  • In 2002, approximately two applications were denied with the reason being the type of case.
