A National Survey of Youth Justice Committees in Canada
FIGURE 9 - PERCENTAGE OF YJCS PERFORMING OTHER ROLES
Figure 9 illustrates the percentage of all YJCs contacted who indicated that they perform certain other roles − unrelated or less directly related to making individual case decisions − anticipated under the new YCJA. The x-axis indicates the percentage of YJCs performing other roles, ranging from 0 to 60%. The y-axis lists the other roles: Crime prevention, lobby for resources, public education, assist and support victims, work with adults, sentencing advice and other youth justice advice.
The results indicate that the roles performed most often involve public education (about 53%), lobbying for resources (about 35%) and crime prevention (about 33%). The roles performed least often involve sentencing advice (about 22%) and other youth justice advice (about 27%).
