This is a pie chart which illustrates the percentage of the most serious offences attributed to Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody on snapshot day.

This pie chart is divided into five categories, which stand for each type of offence. The five categories are as follows: “Drugs”, “Other Criminal Code”, Federal/Provincial Statute”, “Person” and “Property”.

  • 1% of Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a drugs offence
  • 11% of Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed an other Criminal Code offence
  • 2% of Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a federal or provincial statute offence
  • 28% of Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a person’s offence
  • 48% of Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a property offence
