This is a pie chart which illustrates the percentage of the most serious offences attributed to British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody on snapshot day.

This pie chart is divided into five categories, which stand for each type of offence. The two categories are as follows: “Person”, “Property”, “drugs”, “other CC” and “federal/provincial statutes”.

  • 45% of British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a persons offence
  • 36% of British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a property offence
  • 10% of British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed an other Criminal Code offence
  • 3% of British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a drug offence
  • 5% of British Columbia Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody committed a federal/provincial statute offence
