Disclosure of Grant and Contribution Awards

Grant and Contribution Details: 2005-2006 - 4th Quarter
Recipient Name: UNIVERSITY OF REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC POLICY
Location: Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
Date: 2006-02-23
Value: $40,000.00
Type: Contribution
Purpose: The impetus behind the conference is that Canada's justice system, worthy of our pride in so many respects, both seems to contribute to the social ravages that mark so much of Canada's Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal relations and fails to provide most Aboriginal communities with a satisfactory degree of security and social order. The conference is not designed to place blame but to explore the range of justice developments that would allow legal processes to contribute to the development of personal and community well-being. This requires addressing a broad range of issues including access to justice, the role of community justice and traditional healing practices, the development of new institutions, issues in sentencing and corrections, community-based social development and crime prevention.
