The La Loche Alternative Measures Program (LLAMP) administers comprehensive alternative measures services for youth and adult offenders through the use of mediation, conflict and dispute resolution, community justice forums and family group conferencing. The LLAMP is based on the principles of restoring harmony, accepting responsibility and promoting healing for offenders and their victims as well as others affected by the offence. LLAMP uses restorative justice practices to deliver effective, integrated and holistic community justice services to the community.
The program also organizes community functions, sharing circles and workshops. It provides activities for “Restorative Justice Week” and “Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week.” A community code of ethics is being developed and a five-year plan on family violence prevention has been drafted. The program emphasizes Elders and the knowledge they have to share with the community.
