Purpose: The Wet'suwet'en Treaty Office has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Wet'suwet'en House Groups. The program operates pre- and post-charge diversion and sentence advisory programs for Aboriginal youth and adults in three communities. The overall goals of the program are to work in partnership with the Canadian justice system to revitalize and rejuvenate Wet'suwet'en traditional laws and to restore peace and balance within the Wet'suwet'en Nation. The Wet'suwet'en House Groups use traditional structures and processes such as cleansing feasts and community decision-making to resolve diversion issues.
