Purpose: The organization will undertake various justice-related initiatives that will provide justice professionals with increased knowledge of international crime and its effect on crime in Canada, thus enabling the Centre to deliver better policy and programs as well as provide good consultation and cooperation with other interested departments such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The Centre's activities respond to the priorities of the Department and in particular to the areas of: (1) promoting effective international cooperation in tackling transnational organized crime and corruption; (2) protecting victims of crime, in particular children; (3) helping develop more effective and fair justice systems in Canada and abroad; and (4) helping Canadians understand the importance of international cooperation and mutual legal assistance in the fight against serious crimes.
