Purpose: The Regina Alternative Measures Program (RAMP) has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage a status blind pre- and post-charge diversion program for youth and adults in the City of Regina. The focus of the program is on the rehabilitation of the offender and the healing of the victim using mediation, family group conferencing and healing circles that are culturally relevant to the First Nation and Métis populations of Regina. The program also delivers community education and public awareness workshops, and works to develop appropriate processes and protocols for ongoing community involvement in and support for RAMP objectives and activities. It conducts educational sessions in schools and trains the Regina Police Service (RPS) and the RCMP on criteria, referral processes and the Ministerial Order for Alternative Measures.
