Purpose: The purpose of the project is to engage Aboriginal youth and family members of murdered and missing women and girls in the creation of cutting-edge social media tools aimed at preventing victimization of young Aboriginal women and girls. These youth-friendly prevention and awareness tools, through social networking and on-line sites, will help to self-identify level of risk of victimization and where to go for help. The project will also strengthen the capacity of communities to respond more effectively to the safety and protection needs of women and girls by providing ready access to on-line information about risks and risk reduction unique to their region. An evaluation plan for the project will include indicators to assess the potential transferability across Canada.
