The Mistawasis First Nation has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Mistawasis Community Justice Program.
The mission of the Program is to deliver and maintain, in a fair and just manner, community justice services designed to enhance and nurture mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of self, family, community and nation. Using this holistic approach of healing through justice, the Program establishes new initiatives so that self-esteem and a positive self-identity can be restored, not only for current but future generations.
The Mistawasis Community Justice Program staff and advisory committee propose to achieve their mission through the development, implementation and evaluation of a system of care to meet the needs of the individual, family, community and nation. The advisory committee provides guidance to Program staff to develop and implement the community justice plan which focuses on public education, crime prevention, victim services, corrections services, reintegration and alternative measures programming for youth and adults.
