The goal of the project is to promote confidence and youth engagement with court officials. This project will establish a Youth Council, support youth to become facilitators in order to teach local crowns, lawyers and Justice's about how cultural teachings/ceremonies impact the responsibility to the community and how this process may be appropriate to replace court orders (ie. probation, peace bonds, etc.). Local court officials will teach the youth about what their jobs consist of, the tools they have to do their job as well as run mock trials with youth. The youth will gain a better understanding of the court system and how the system can be supportive, not always punitive.
